The awards just keep on coming for Budapest Airport; it has been named “Best Airport in Eastern Europe” at the World Airport Awards in March for the tenth time in a row. This is the second major accolade for Ferenc Liszt International Airport in a month. At the beginning of March, ACI chose Budapest Airport as the best airport in Europe among airports with 15-25 million passengers, also based on passenger feedback. Budapest Airport thanks all its partners and all those that work at the airport for their dedication and high-quality services, which have earned it these prestigious awards.

The Skytrax award, presented on Wednesday evening, is based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires, which are completed by air passengers of more than 100 nationalities over the 8-month survey period. The survey asks respondents to rate their travel experience and the various airport services, from arrival, through check-in and security screening, to departure at the boarding gates.

The award was presented during a ceremony at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam on 15 March. The Skytrax Award is not the first major recognition that Budapest Airport has received in 2023; the operator also won the Airport Service Quality award for Best Airport of 15 to 25 Million Passengers in Europe this year, based on passenger feedback.

“It is a great source of pride to see that the hard work of the airport community is seen and appreciated by passengers. We have made great progress in a decade: we have renewed our terminals, expanded our airport services, constructed two new, high-quality passenger piers and a cargo base, introduced family-friendly services and implemented state-of-the-art security screening technology,” said Chris Dinsdale, the CEO of Budapest Airport. He added: “We are not stopping on this road, but further development is only possible with expanded capacity. We are only waiting for the building permit for the reopening of Terminal 1, while design and organization works in preparation for the new Terminal 3 are well underway.”

Budapest Airport’s developments over the last four years serving quality, an outstanding passenger experience, a high level of security and sustainability will reach 100 billion HUF by this spring.
