At last night’s Routes Europe 2019 Marketing Awards, Budapest Airport not only came out top in the 4-20 million annual passenger category, but beat off every other European airport to be declared overall winner of the highly regarded awards.
“We’re over the moon, and so very proud as a team, to be recognised by the airlines,” expresses Kam Jandu, CCO, Budapest Airport. “To win in our category, against some extremely tough competition, is an honour enough, but to be taking home the overall winner award is an absolute highlight for us all. We work as a fantastic team and the relationships we build with our clients are what really matter and at the core of everything we do,” adds Jandu.
Voted and judged for by the airlines, the awards are unique in recognising excellence in air service development globally, outstanding marketing service, and the support of new air services as well as the development of existing ones. Other airports nominated in Budapest’s category were St Petersburg Pulkovo, London City and Nuremberg.
The Routes Europe 2019 Marketing Awards are the third regional heat of the Routes 2019 Marketing Awards. As overall winner of this regional event Budapest is automatically shortlisted in its category for the most prestigious awards in the industry, the World Routes 2019 Marketing Awards, which will take place in September in Adelaide, Australia.
“Last year saw us regain our category title for the first time in seven years,” says Jandu. “After some incredibly innovative marketing campaigns, as well as sales activities and forward-thinking, we’ve got everyone talking about Budapest Airport!”
